Bio Andrei Popov
Before being appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Hellenic Republic (2022), he occupied different positions in his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, including that of Ambassador-at-Large, Director of the Multilateral Cooperation Department (2020-2022), Ambassador to Austria and Slovakia, Permanent Reprehensive to the OSCE and UN (2013-2016), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (2009-2013), Deputy Director/Director of the General International Security Department (2002-2004), Second/First Secretary of the Embassy of Moldova to the USA (1997-2001). During his career path outside the MFA, he was President of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (2016-2020), Executive Director of the Foreign Policy Association (2004-2009) and Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova (2009). He is the graduate of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (2002-2003), Faculty of International Relations of the Romania’s National School of Political and Administrative Studies (1994-1996) and the Faculty of Journalism of the University of Bucharest (1990-1994). Mr. Popov has the rank of Ambassador and is the father of four children.
